Architect David Hovey, the creative mind behind the Optima Camelview Village project northwest of Scottsdale Road and Highland Avenue, has designed a series of stylish sculptures to grace the 700-unit luxury condominium development.

Hovey has studied painting and sculpture for 40 years. He believes art should be fun, enjoyable and evoke emotion. His sculptures' bright colors and hip designs complement downtown Scottsdale's new vibrancy.

The laser-cut sculptures are made of thin cantilevered steel. Sundance, which debuted in October 2007, is on Scottsdale Road near Highland. It gets its name because of the way the sun moves through the piece.

Windsong, unveiled in February, is just south of Rancho Vista on Scottsdale Road. Its top section rotates in the wind, casting ever-changing shades of shadows.

A third sculpture, yet to be named, will be installed later this year.
